The
Righteous:
2 Timothy
2:22-24 “Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith,
love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know
they produce quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he
must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.”
What does Paul expect of his protégé Timothy?
Galatians 5:16-18 “So I
say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful
nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the
Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each
other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit,
you are not under law.”
How can you live by the Spirit? Begin my praying Luke 11:13 until you are filled with the power and presence of the Holy SPirit...
Remember that Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Do you note know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You were bought for a price. Therefore honor God with your body."
Galatians 5:22-26 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such
things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the
sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let
us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and
envying each other.”
How can we avoid sinful actions and attitudes?
